Julius Ceaser was kidnapped by pirates. In 75 BC, the 25-year-old young nobleman, who sailed across the Aegean Sea to take oratory lessons, was kidnapped by Cilician pirates. When they asked for 20 talents as ransom, Caesar laughed at them and said that 50 talents would be more appropriate. Caesar mocked the pirates, shushed them when he wanted to sleep and recited poems. He participated in the games the pirates played among themselves and joked that after the ransom was paid he would have them all crucified, but it turned out not to be a joke. After 38 days, when the ransom was paid, he organized a naval force, captured the pirates, and had them all hanged on the cross.
